Co-existence, collapse and diversity of phage-bacteria systems

1 p.m. Tuesday 6th June 2017

MRI, School of Life Sciences

Phage and Bacteria present beautiful models for species interactions, that can be used to inspire our understanding of both macro-scale ecology and spreading of diseases. I will discuss models of phage-bacteria systems with focus of mechanism that generate or sustain diversity. Both as diversity of species in environments, and between strategies such as the temperate phage strategy versus the pure lytic strategy.
